Summer round-up + next for The Kooks

In April THE KOOKS played a one off intimate gig at Zanzibar in Liverpool, kicking off a 6 month stint of live dates throughout Europe and South America...

Over 30 shows, 14 countries, one terrifying plane ride, numerous guitar strings and several hundred thousands of amazing Kooks fans later, the band landed back in the UK the weekend before last, rounding things up with a secret set at Bestival. Photos from this set and all the Summer dates can be viewed on THE KOOKS Facebook page, as well as all the behind the scenes footage of the band, shot on the road (Videos section left of the Wall.)

And as for the here and now - we are pleased to inform you that the band are currently situated in the rehearsal studio with sights firmly set on completing The Kooks 3rd album and recording due to begin soon.

The Kooks will be back next year with new material and all that comes with it. In the meantime, stay tuned to Twitter.com/THEKOOKSMUSIC for updates from the studio.

A massive apology to all Kooks fans hoping to see the band at Peace and Love festival this Thursday, however Luke has a chest infection and has been advised by doctors to rest until he has recovered. The band are very sad to be missing the festival and hope to make it up to all Kooks fans in Sweden when possible. Have a great time.

Luke today revealed to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat that the band have started work on their 3rd album.

He told Newsbeat: "We kind of barricaded ourselves in the countryside for a few weeks - stayed at some friend's who have a cottage in Norfolk."

Explaining the sessions he added: "[We've] Just been rehearsing and writing new stuff.

"I feel really fresh about the band - I guess generally we're still just such friends. It's cool, we've just been having fun really."

The Kooks will be headlining the Channel 4 stage at the V Festival this weekend. They will be playing at Hylands Park in Chelmsford on Saturday and Weston Park in Staffordshire on Sunday at 9.35, Please note - this is a change to previously announced dates. . If you're going to be there, please do head over and check out some new songs!

If you can't make the festival, look out for the highlights shows on Channel 4, on Saturday at 11.30pm or on Sunday at 2.00pm.

Kooks to play V 2007

Festival news! We are really pleased to be able to announce that we will be headlining the Channel 4 stage at this year's V Festival.

They will be at Weston Park in Staffordshire on August 18th, and Hylands Park in Chelmsford on August 19th.

Rescheduled Shows

The Kooks resumed their UK tour in Sheffield last night after lead singer Luke Pritchard was given the all clear from doctors. Luke had been suffering from tonsillitis and laryngitis and was unable to play the last five dates of the tour.
The dates have been rescheduled for December and are:

13th - Leeds University
17th - Norwich UEA
18th - Southampton Guildhall
19th - Newcastle Academy

Postponed Shows

Unfortunately we are sad to announce today that we have to reschedule the next few dates of our current tour - Southampton, 30-9; Norwich, 1-10; Newcastle, 2-10; and Leeds, 3-10.

This is due to Luke being quite poorly with tonsillitis and laryngitis.Yesterday evenings show in Brighton had to be cancelled and since then the doctor has told Luke to rest.

We are truly upset to have to let down so many of you who were looking forward to these shows since May; we know you bought these tickets months ago! We will definitely be rescheduling the shows as soon as possible and expect to be able to let you know the new dates within the next day or two, so keep an eye on our website and your local press and radio.

Luke is seeing the doctor again on Wednesday so, fingers crossed, he will be fully fit to continue with the rest of the tour will continue as planned.

We look forward to seeing you all very, very soon.

Kooks In Studio Recording Debut Album

The Kooks are in the studio recording their debut album. They are working hard in KONK studios, owned by Ray Davies of the Kinks (every Kinks album since 1972 was recorded there!) and they're working with the Producer Tony Hoffer, who has previously produced Supergrass and Beck!
