Simon Trpceski - Debussy: Images

\"Trpceski is the real deal. A pianistic talent in a thousand.\"
The Times, June 2005

Simon Trpceski, though still in his mid-twenties, has established himself as one of the most remarkable young musicians to have emerged in recent years, playing with many of the world's great orchestras and delighting audiences world-wide. His highly successful 2004 Proms debut with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra prompted the Independent's critic to write \"people will be auctioning tickets for Simon Trpceski soon\". Last December he had a mini-residency on London's South Bank, giving his debut recital in the International Piano Series and two performances with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski. In the spring he returned to the Queen Elizabeth Hall for performances with the Philharmonia Orchestra, with whom he plays each season and he has also made return visits to the Hall, Bournemouth and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras. He made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra in December 2006 under Antonio Pappano.

Simon made his debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra earlier and has been re-invited for September 2007 with Maazel. His debut with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra also resulted in an immediate re-invitation to play Rachmaninov's Paganini Variations with Ashkenazy. He made his debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 2006 and then made a very successful debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl. In the last two seasons he has played with the Colorado, Seattle and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He has made several recitals tours including Vancouver, Kansas City, Atlanta, San Francisco, Ravinia, Seattle and Toronto.

In Scandinavia Simon has played with the Stockholm, Bergen, Gothenburg and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestras and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Simon made successful debuts with the DSO Berlin and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and returned to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He gave his debut recital at La Roque d'Antheron in August, having made his Paris debut at Le Louvre, and his other recital engagements have included the Concertgebouw small hall, Hong Kong City Hall, Dublin National Concert Hall, Bilbao Philharmonic Society and five recitals at the Wigmore Hall in London.

Simon's first recital recording, as part of the EMI Classics' Debut Series, featured music by Tchaikovsky, Scriabin, Stravinsky and Prokofiev. It received both the Editor's Choice and the Debut Album Awards at the Gramophone Awards, and in Gramophone Magazine Bryce Morrison wrote \"Everything is musically and ardently inflected and while Trpceski's virtuoso voltage is awe-inspiring, his unfailing musicianship is even more remarkable\". Simon's second recital recording, an all Rachmaninov disc, which has received unanimous praise from the critics, marks his transition to EMI Classic's main label. His latest CD is a Chopin recital disc which was released in January 2007.

Born in the Republic of Macedonia in 1979, Simon Trpceski has won prizes in international piano competitions in the UK (London International Piano Competition 2000), Czech Republic and Italy. In July 2002 he graduated from the Faculty of Music of the University of St Cyril and St Methodius in Skopje where he studied with Professor Boris Romanov. He was a member of the BBC New Generation Scheme 2001/3 and in May 2003 he was awarded the ‘Young Artist Award’ by the Royal Philharmonic Society."; labelnews_website_url[0] = "http://www.simontrpceski.com/ ";
